About IGKB
The International Water Protection Commission for Lake Constance (IGKB) has been dedicated to safeguarding one of Europe's most vital ecosystems since 1959. Located at the heart of the border regions between Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Liechtenstein, the IGKB’s mission revolves around the integral protection of Lake Constance, which serves as a crucial drinking water reservoir for approximately five million people.
The commission focuses on addressing a variety of environmental challenges, such as monitoring the lake's water quality, studying the impacts of climate change, and investigating aquatic invasive species. Key initiatives, including the KLIMBO and SeeWandel projects, aim to adapt to ongoing ecological shifts.
