About Irish Georgian Society
The Irish Georgian Society is Ireland's leading Architectural Heritage Society dedicated to the preservation and promotion of distinguished examples of architecture and allied arts across all periods in Ireland. With a mission to encourage interest and conservation, the society achieves its goals through education, grants, planning participation, membership, and fundraising. The society is a membership organization with an international reach, boasting a diverse community of 2,000 members.
Dublin serves as its base, with active regional chapters in Cork, Birr, and Limerick. Additionally, the society has a thriving London chapter and a strong membership presence in the United States, particularly in Chicago, Boston, New York, and Palm Beach. Founded in 1958 by the Hon. Desmond Guinness and Mariga Guinness, the society has played a vital role in the protection and preservation of architecturally significant buildings. It owes its success to the dedication of its members and supporters, with Sir David Davies currently serving as the president
