About IGVF
The Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF) Consortium is a collaborative research program funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health. It brings together teams of investigators to study how genomic variation affects genome function and, in turn, phenotypes and human disease. Using experimental and computational approaches, the consortium models, predicts, characterizes, and maps genome function.
IGVF’s work includes systematically perturbing the genome to assess the effects of variation, identifying where and when genes and regulatory elements function, and examining how genetic variation and genome function interact in biological networks. The consortium also develops and tests predictive models of variant impacts. Its data portal provides access to datasets, project resources, standards, protocols, models, and tools, while its catalog supports searches for variants, genes, genomic regions, and experimental data or predictions. IGVF shares its catalog and related resources with the broader research community, helping researchers explore variant effects and conduct related studies.
