The Institute for the History of Science and Technology named after S.I. Vavilov, also known as IIET RAN, was established in 1932 and operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. With over 150 staff members, including more than 30 doctors and 55 candidates of sciences, IIET RAN conducts extensive research aimed at uncovering the major events in the evolution of natural sciences, technology, and engineering. The institute plays a crucial role in preserving the legacy of significant discoveries and influential figures in these fields, while also analyzing the social influences on scientific progress.

Noteworthy publications include various scientific journals that address historical and biological studies, as well as sociology of science and technology. IIET RAN fosters international cooperation with researchers globally, aiding in the establishment of exhibitions and commemorative events. Its multidisciplinary team encompasses over 17 scientific specialties, making it a leading center for historical and technical research in Russia and beyond.
