About IICCMER
IICCMER, the Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile, is a government structure established in 2009 with the purpose of scientifically analyzing the communist regime and its consequences. At the heart of all their efforts are the victims and the ongoing endeavor to identify those responsible for the crimes and abuses committed. Not only does IICCMER conduct research, but it also creates, organizes, and supports educational and memorial projects, contributing to a better understanding of the importance of rights and freedoms in post-communist society.
They also provide useful tools and resources, such as archives, virtual libraries, and educational materials, for both specialists in social sciences and the general public. Their focus includes researching communist repression, documenting the history of communism, and preserving the memory and heritage associated with that period
