The Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies is a cultural and research institution founded in Rome in 1975 by Enrico Cerulli, Elena Croce, Pietro Piovani, Giovanni Pugliese Carratelli and Gerardo Marotta. Established around a humanistic library assembled through extensive research in collections across Europe, the Institute has been based at Palazzo Serra di Cassano in Naples since 1983. Its work promotes philosophical study through seminars, cultural events, book presentations, research and training opportunities, and scholarships for research and professional development.
The Institute also offers courses for teachers and educational programmes for schools, alongside video and podcast resources that preserve and share its activities. Its library supports consultation of catalogues and access to historical materials, while the museum’s digital experience explores Palazzo Serra di Cassano through artistic, historical and philosophical routes, with interactive media and augmented reality; visitors can explore online or in person. Through IISF Press and its publications, the Institute extends its contribution to philosophical and humanistic scholarship
