IJsclub Uiterweg

IJsclub Uiterweg is a volunteer-run skating club in Aalsmeer, founded in 1889 to promote winter recreation and enjoyment on the Westeinderplassen. Its activities focus on the Topsvoortbaan and local waters, where members and visitors can skate when conditions are safe. The club monitors weather and ice conditions, prepares its equipment and coordinates with local authorities when winter weather brings large numbers of skaters. Its website shares seasonal updates, club news, historical information, photographs and annual reports, helping the community follow preparations and changes in ice conditions.

Traditional club offerings include maintaining and preparing the skating area, organizing skating outings and providing koek en zopie—refreshments served on the ice when circumstances permit. The site also features information about prikburren, a local ice-related tradition, and a toertocht, or skating tour. Membership is open to people who want to support the club and take part in its community. IJsclub Uiterweg combines a long local heritage with practical attention to safety, volunteer involvement and the shared pleasure of skating outdoors.
