IJsclub Ursem

IJsclub Ursem is a local skating club serving Ursem and the surrounding area. Founded in 1895, it has a long history of promoting skating as both a sport and a leisure activity, while contributing to community life in the village. In its early years, the club organized skating races and “spekrijderijen,” competitions whose prizes supported local people in need. It also arranged work for ice sweepers, who helped maintain safe sections of the ice.

Today, IJsclub Ursem focuses particularly on skating for young people: its youth skating lessons are especially popular, and families can register participants through the club. The club also shares information about seasonal activities, including its Christmas cross, and publishes flyers and news updates about its program. Visitors can explore the club’s history and photo collection, find contact details, and follow its activities on Facebook and Instagram. IJsclub Ursem brings generations together around skating, combining a community-focused heritage with opportunities for local residents to take part in activities on the ice.
