International Karate Association & College of the Martial Arts (IKA) is a Fairbanks, Alaska martial arts school that has served the community since opening as Scott’s Dojo in 1972. Led by 10th Dan Hanshi Charles Scott, whose martial arts training and teaching experience spans more than 50 years, the school provides instruction in traditional Japanese karate and multiple other disciplines. Classes include aikido, kung fu, iaido, jujitsu, kobujutsu, hojutsu, and self-defense.
Students can train in more than one style, combining complementary approaches to movement and martial arts. The school welcomes adults and children, with programs intended to support physical fitness, coordination, balance, flexibility, mental focus, confidence, respect, and discipline. Practical self-defense classes for women are offered periodically, while some additional classes are available on a noncontinuous basis.
IKA also notes that its instruction may suit people seeking basic self-protection or advanced martial arts study, including those in occupations such as law enforcement and corrections. Located on Downwind Drive in Fairbanks, the school offers military and student discounts
