IKA Rogaland

IKA Rogaland, formally Interkommunalt Arkiv i Rogaland IKS, is an intermunicipal organisation that helps municipalities and other public archive owners in Rogaland preserve and provide access to records and documentation. Its work connects the region’s past with its future by safeguarding materials that support public accountability, research and personal discovery.

The organisation serves both the public and municipalities. Visitors can explore archival collections, investigate family history, seek documentation about themselves or a property, and access photo collections and exhibitions. IKA Rogaland also offers a reading room where archival material can be consulted by appointment, with advance ordering recommended.

For municipal clients, services include guidance on laws and regulations, training courses, webinars and conferences, and support for depositing electronic and paper archives. The organisation also assists with documentation plans, archival arrangement projects and digitisation projects, and provides information on professional archival topics. Researchers, students and other interested users can find sources in records such as school archives, tax registers and poor relief records; some material is available through the Norwegian Digital Archives. Based in Stavanger, IKA Rogaland works to make regional records accessible to the communities they document.
