Il Drago Oscuro is a cultural and historical reenactment association based in Forlì, Italy. Originating in 1994 as a group of enthusiasts in historical fencing, it formally became an association in 2001. Its work focuses on the history and culture of the local area in the late fifteenth century, particularly the life and legacy of Caterina Sforza Riario, ruler of Forlì and Imola.
The association brings together and trains people interested in medieval and Renaissance history through historical fencing, longbow archery, and supporting crafts such as sewing and cooking. It organises and takes part in historical events, presenting period encampments and educational displays where visitors can meet costumed fighters, archers, nobles, merchants, cooks, and artisans, and watch demonstrations and sword duels. Its regular activities also include workshops for making objects and maintaining weapons and armour.
Qualified instructors offer introductory courses in historical fencing and archery. Recognised by the Emilia-Romagna regional register for historical reenactment, Il Drago Oscuro also collaborates with local cultural and educational initiatives
