The Centro Studi e Spettacoli sulle Tradizioni Popolari di Bisignano is an organization dedicated to celebrating and sharing the local traditions and historical culture of Bisignano, Italy. Its principal event is Il Palio di Bisignano, also known as Il Palio del Principe, which brings together the town’s eight historic districts through competitions, performances, and commemorative events connected with the Sanseverino princes.
The Palio features a joust, a historical procession, flag-throwing performances, and the Palio delle Serenate, a singing contest held in the districts beneath decorated balconies. The serenades revive a local courtship custom, while the procession and joust offer a vivid historical spectacle. The organization’s flag-throwing group, established in 1996, is also available by request to perform at historical reenactments, palios, tournaments, jousts, and costume festivals.
The center shares event programs, news, galleries, and information about the districts and the Palio’s history. It has also produced new district flags in collaboration with DP Grafica and offers Palio-related gadgets.
