ILUCIDARE is an international project spearheaded by KU Leuven, focused on leveraging cultural heritage (CH) to foster innovation and diplomacy. Funded through the Horizon 2020 programme, ILUCIDARE aims to establish a robust network of CH practitioners across Europe and beyond over its three-year duration. The initiative not only seeks to define and promote CH-led innovation but also emphasizes raising global awareness and providing resources to enhance such initiatives.

The project facilitates the exchange of best practices and skills through various digital engagement strategies, participatory activities, and training programs, including online courses and international conferences. Additionally, ILUCIDARE hosts competitions, such as the prestigious ILUCIDARE special EU Prizes for Cultural Heritage, to recognize outstanding contributions in the field. With an emphasis on intercultural dialogue, ILUCIDARE enhances EU external relations through cultural heritage diplomacy and collaboration, ultimately aiming to preserve and promote CH where it is most at risk. Through its extensive reach, ILUCIDARE aims to create lasting impacts in the cultural heritage sector worldwide.
