About IMAN—Chicago + ATL
The Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) is a nonprofit community organization dedicated to fostering health, wellness, and healing in underserved urban communities. Incorporated in 1997 through the efforts of people addressing issues affecting communities of color on Chicago’s South Side, IMAN now operates in Chicago and Atlanta. Its holistic approach brings together health care, arts and culture, access to healthy food, workforce development, and community organizing to address systemic barriers to a dignified quality of life.
IMAN’s programs include a comprehensive, accessible, and culturally competent health center offering medical and behavioral health care; arts initiatives that support creative expression and community connection; and a food ecosystem featuring a fresh market, community kitchen, gardens, and efforts to improve neighborhood access to nutritious foods. Its Go Green Community Fresh Market offers fresh, locally sourced and Black-owned products, with discounts for Englewood residents. Green ReEntry provides transitional housing, life-skills education, sustainable construction training, and job readiness for returning residents and justice-involved youth.
