Imani’s Village is an Oklahoma City nonprofit dedicated to improving maternal and infant health and birth outcomes in the local Black community. Previously known as For The Village Inc., the organization was created in response to the high rates of maternal and infant mortality affecting Black communities. Its work centers on supporting birthing families and strengthening access to culturally responsive care.
The organization’s services include doula support, childbirth education, and lactation services. Through its Family Connections Program, Imani’s Village provides free doula services to Black birthing families. It also trains community doulas through its Birthworker Program and offers additional training opportunities for people committed to supporting families during pregnancy and birth. These programs are supported by birthworker cohorts that serve families in the community.
Imani’s Village also welcomes partnerships with community organizations on shared initiatives and hosts events to connect with supporters and the wider community. Individuals who want to contribute can support its mission through donations or volunteering.
