About IMAP
The Instituto Mesoamericano de Permacultura (IMAP) is dedicated to the holistic well-being of the Mesoamerican people. Our mission is to promote food sovereignty, biodiversity conservation, agroecological education, and the empowerment of small-scale farmers. Founded and led by Mayan Kaqchiquel permaculturists since 2000, our team is supported by national and international professionals, students, and volunteers.
Located on the shores of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala, IMAP offers a range of services that include workshops, educational tours, and a certificate program in permaculture design. We are committed to preserving ancestral seeds, fostering a sustainable and healthy diet, and enriching agricultural education through popular pedagogy. By partnering with communities and supporting local producers, we strive to strengthen institutional capacity and promote access to land.
