IMAR Costa Norte, the Institute for Support of Irrigation Water Management on Peru’s North Coast, is a private, nonprofit regional organization founded in Chiclayo in 1991 by public-sector and development institutions representing irrigation users. It serves as an interinstitutional platform for collaboration, practical experimentation, validation, and exchange of experience, with work focused on northern Peru, especially Lambayeque and Cajamarca.

The organization specializes in the social, technical, and environmental management of water. Its thematic areas include water management, productive water use, environmental management, and local economic development. IMAR builds the capacities of professionals, technicians, producers, and communities, and supports locally grounded approaches to sustainable development. Its services include consulting and advisory work in rural development, particularly productive water management, as well as joint projects, training programs, exchanges, and internships carried out with partner institutions.

Its work also promotes participation, gender equity, access to information, and collaborative decision-making. Projects and achievements include strengthening water-management institutions and user organizations, improving irrigation services, supporting local producers and artisans, and encouraging reforestation and protection of water sources and soils.
