The Imibala Trust is a registered South African nonprofit organisation based in Somerset West, Cape Town. It supports school-age children affected by poverty, aiming to improve their wellbeing, strengthen their participation in education and help them prepare for life after school. Its programmes are open to children regardless of race or creed, and are delivered through school networks and support from donors and partners.
The Trust’s flagship Sponsor-a-Child programme provides school uniforms, helping children attend school with dignity and confidence. Its Creative and Performing Arts programme encourages individuality, creativity and self-expression. The Learner Advancement programme offers access to a 22-station computer centre, while the Hospitality Training Centre develops practical skills and confidence for careers in the hospitality industry. Imibala also supports vocational training for talented school leavers from disadvantaged families, working with Building Skills Welfare Switzerland to create pathways to employment.
Through partnerships, including with the Serondella Foundation, the Trust coordinates school-uniform procurement and community support.
