About IMLU
IMLU is a governance, health, and human rights non-governmental organization that has been dedicated to preventing and responding to torture and related violations in Kenya since 1993. Our mission is to ensure healing, justice, and accountability for victims of torture and violence. With a holistic approach that combines litigation, medical and psycho-social rehabilitation, socio-economic empowerment, oversight of government compliance, and advocacy for reforms, we strive to establish a sustainable environment for accountability, justice, and healing in Kenya.
Our work has made a significant impact, supporting over 6,000 victims of torture, cruel, degrading, and inhumane treatment over the past three decades. As a national organization, we have a team of over 300 professionals including doctors, trauma counselors, lawyers, human rights monitors, and journalists.
