About Unlock Hidden Jewels
Welcome to I Moved Back, a brand that celebrates the beauty and richness of Africa, the motherland and the true origin of modern humanity. We aim to challenge misconceptions and showcase the vibrant culture, resources, and skills found across this highly underrated continent.
As someone who was born in the UK but has Nigerian roots, I too had to confront the misconceptions surrounding Africa. That's why I'm here to share the top 5 misconceptions about living in Africa.
First, let's dispel the myth that there is no middle class. Africa boasts a thriving middle class that continues to grow as wealth spreads. Many African countries are on track to meet the UN's Sustainable Development Goal of ending extreme poverty.
Second, access to technology is not as limited as some believe. From TVs in villages to widespread smartphone use, Africa is embracing technology. African tech startups are raising billions of dollars, and cities like Konza in Kenya are becoming digital hubs.
Third, Africa is not all bushland. African cities like Lagos are bustling and developed, while natural wonders like the desert dunes of Namibia and the ski resort in Lesotho rival popular tourist destinations.
Fourth, Africa's climate is diverse, ranging from hot deserts to cool temperatures during harmattan season. There is something for everyone.
Lastly, Africa is safe for tourists. While caution is always advised, African cities like Kigali, Rwanda, are among the safest and cleanest in the world.
At I Moved Back, we invite you to discover the true Africa, a continent full of beauty, opportunities, and warm hospitality. Join us in celebrating Africa's past, present, and future.
