The Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) is a public power organization formed by municipally owned electric utilities to share resources and provide electricity more economically. Its 61 member utilities serve communities across Indiana and Ohio, delivering local electric service at not-for-profit rates to more than 350,000 people. IMPA coordinates a diverse power supply that includes coal, natural gas, renewable resources, and purchased power, with a focus on reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible electricity.
Beyond power supply, IMPA supports member utilities and their communities with engineering, marketing, government relations, and outage restoration services. Through IMPA Service Corp, its operations and engineering subsidiary, the agency provides additional technical and operational support. Its programs and resources cover energy efficiency, green power, electric vehicles, customer education, and generation. IMPA also assists communities with economic development, including information on sites, buildings, financing, and incentives, and offers workshops and public power resources. By combining shared services with local utility relationships, IMPA helps members manage energy needs and serve their customers.
