About ThemeFusion
Imritec Limited is an innovative metal recycling brand with a strong focus on the recycling of aluminum dross, scrap, and other waste products. With a mission to achieve the highest aluminum metal recovery at the lowest processing cost, Imritec has developed robust relationships with dross generators, including multinational companies, processing over 80% of Southern Africa's available dross. Imritec aims to be a global leader in zero-waste recycling, with a vision for cradle-to-grave recycling of aluminum dross and other aluminum waste.
To achieve this, the brand is working on various developments, such as constructing a state-of-the-art black residue salt plant that produces valuable by-products used in the steel, chemical fertilizer, and cement industries. Imritec also plans to implement a 'zero-waste' process that offers both economic and environmental benefits. Additionally, the brand is partnering with local organizations to establish a cradle-to-grave aluminum dross recycling facility in Bahrain, expanding its operations geographically.
Imritec's recycling process involves utilizing a 'salt flux' method and processing aluminum dross residue into valuable by-products. The brand is actively investing in a black residue salt plant to create a 'closed loop' where nothing is wasted, and the facility produces its own input flux. As part of its operations, Imritec owns Aluminum Metal Recycling (AMR), a subsidiary that remelts aluminum furnace dross, scrap, and off-cuts.
AMR operates two furnaces in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, with a capacity to process 1,200 tonnes of feed per month. AMR continually innovates in processes and equipment to improve efficiencies and recoveries. Imritec has expanded its operations by acquiring Alumicor, another aluminum dross and scrap re-smelting operation.
Located in close proximity to Hulamin, the largest aluminum semi-fabricator in Sub-Saharan Africa, Alumicor has an indefinite contract to treat Hulamin's aluminum dross. With plans to increase capacity, Alumicor's re-smelting plant is equipped with three oxyfuel-fired rotary tilting furnaces. For those interested in learning more about aluminum, Imritec's website provides useful links, including information about the metal's low density, atomic number, and a timeline of its historic events.
Imritec is committed to sustainable recycling practices and aims to lead the way in the aluminum recycling industry, making a positive impact on the environment and the global economy
