InsightMeditationSB

Insight Meditation South Bay is a nonprofit meditation organization serving Silicon Valley, California, and dedicated to the liberating teachings of the Buddha. Founded and guided by meditation teacher Shaila Catherine, it offers practical instruction and opportunities to cultivate mindfulness, tranquility, concentration, insight, and wisdom in everyday life.

Its programs include monthly Saturday meditation events in Los Altos and Los Gatos, as well as local classes, sutta study, and special gatherings. Participants can attend in-person or online daylong and half-day retreats, alongside intensive silent retreats focused on practices such as mindfulness with breathing, vipassana, jhana, and loving-kindness meditation. The organization also co-sponsors residential retreats and online courses led by Shaila Catherine. These courses explore concentration, satipatthana, metta, and the Buddha’s discourses.

Insight Meditation South Bay provides resources for people interested in Buddhist teachings and contemplative practice, and welcomes volunteers who can help coordinate events, host study groups, maintain its website, or support outreach. Its offerings are designed to support meditation practice, inner peace, and personal insight.
