I.M. Speech/Language Associates provides evaluation and treatment services for children and young adults, with care tailored to each client’s needs. Based in Tenafly, New Jersey, the practice works with individuals experiencing delayed language skills, motor disorders, language-based learning disabilities, processing disorders, articulation difficulties, tongue thrusts, hearing impairment, and autism spectrum disorders.

Services include speech-language therapy and PROMPT, a tactile, kinesthetic, and sensory-based approach to reorganizing movement patterns involved in speech. The practice describes PROMPT as using touch on the jaw, lips, face, and tongue from outside the mouth, with sounds developed through interactive communication rather than in isolation. Its speech-language pathologists have completed training across four PROMPT levels.

The practice also offers myofunctional therapy, which uses exercises to re-educate oral and facial muscles. This therapy may address nasal breathing, low tongue resting position, tongue thrust, reverse swallowing, and related habits. Care can include private sessions, home follow-up exercises, requested school visits, and a team-based approach when appropriate.
