Accessible Games is a charity focused on gamers with disabilities and the creator of Accessible Player Experiences® (APX), a set of design patterns that helps game developers identify and address accessibility barriers. Developed from feedback from players with disabilities, APX encourages teams to design around barriers that may affect people with different disabilities, rather than focusing on a particular diagnosis. Its approach can complement existing accessibility processes or help teams begin developing more accessible games.

APX organizes 22 patterns into two groups: Access and Challenge. Access patterns address how players provide information to a game through controls and receive information through visual, audio, or haptic feedback. Challenge patterns help developers make gameplay flexible without removing meaningful difficulty. Together, the patterns offer teams a shared design language for discussing accessibility and finding solutions throughout development, while supporting their creative vision.

Accessible Games also offers APX resources and services, including a portable APX card deck, Certified APX Practitioner training, research services, subscriptions, and player panels.
