Institute for Canadian Citizenship

The Institute for Canadian Citizenship (ICC) is a Canadian organization dedicated to helping newcomers participate fully in life in Canada. It works toward a future where immigrants can build lasting roots, become citizens, succeed, and contribute to a stronger, more prosperous and inclusive country. Through programs, research and public engagement, the ICC supports newcomer integration and promotes policies that help immigration work for Canada.

Its flagship Canoo app is described as Canada’s largest welcome and integration service for newcomers. Canoo provides members with unlimited free access to more than 2,000 cultural, nature and sport experiences across Canada, helping them explore their communities and feel connected. The organization also produces research, insights, reports and events on citizenship, inclusion, immigration policy and newcomer retention. Its publications examine issues such as skilled immigrant employment, credential recognition and the barriers that can affect newcomers’ ability to thrive. In addition, the ICC shares policy priorities, surveys and public commentary, and partners with organizations that welcome newcomers.
