The Independent Order is an online community and roleplay region associated with NationStates, bringing together members to develop fictional nations, share stories, and participate in collaborative world-building. Its forum provides resources for newcomers, including introductions, getting-started guides, roleplay rules, a constitution, and a map for locating participating nations. Members can explore a wide range of activities, from writing fiction and building national histories to taking part in diplomacy, international organisations, and simulated government.

The community’s forums also support legislative debate, legal institutions, regional announcements, foreign embassies, and news publications. Members can organise conventions, product launches, trade fairs, and religious conferences, as well as sporting events and tournaments. Dedicated areas cover economics, industry, war and conflict, historical roleplay, and short-form storytelling. Socialisation and a shared library offer additional spaces for discussion and reference. With active discussions, member-created content, and guidance for roleplayers, The Independent Order offers a structured setting for collaborative creativity, civic participation, and interaction between fictional nations.
