About Athletics Federation of India
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is the premier organization responsible for governing and promoting athletics in India. Affiliated with World Athletics, AAA, and the Indian Olympic Association, the AFI oversees 32 state units and institutional units across the country. Since its establishment in 1946, the federation has played a vital role in organizing national championships, training national team members for international competitions, and hosting various age-category championships.
The AFI also conducts both national and international events to popularize and commercialize the sport, while supporting state units with coaching camps and development programs. Indian athletics boasts a rich heritage and has contributed significantly to the country's medal tally at the Asian Games. Over the years, the sport has produced numerous international icons and achieved remarkable success in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.
The AFI organizes a wide range of events, including international championships, national championships, and the NID-JAM program, which aims to discover and nurture young talent from districts across India
