About Indian Ocean Craft Triennial
Indian Ocean Craft Triennial is a brand that showcases contemporary craft from the Indian Ocean region. Based in Western Australia, it organizes a triennial event that brings together artists, makers, and crafted works from the Indian Ocean Rim. The previous event, IOTA21, explored the theme of 'Curiosity and Rituals of the Everyday' and featured exhibitions and events from September to November 2021.
In 2024, the next edition, IOTA24, will take place and will investigate the multi-various languages codified in contemporary craft through major international exhibitions, a conference, and a festival program. The international exhibition will be held at Fremantle Arts Centre, John Curtin Gallery, and Holmes à Court Gallery, while other major institutions, artist-run collectives, and regional galleries will host a satellite festival of exhibitions and events. With a focus on diversity and connection, the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial aims to celebrate and promote the rich craft traditions of the Indian Ocean region
