India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project represents a groundbreaking initiative in the country's defense sector, aimed at developing a fifth-generation stealth multirole combat aircraft. Designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and produced in collaboration with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and private industry partners, the AMCA features a single-seat, twin-engine configuration optimized for various missions including air superiority, ground-strike, suppression of enemy air defenses, and electronic warfare.

The program, which began in 2010, seeks to enhance the capabilities of the Indian Air Force and potentially the Indian Navy, with the Mark-1 variant focusing on fifth-generation specifications and the future Mark-2 variant incorporating sixth-generation technologies. Key to the AMCA's design are advanced stealth features that ensure a low radar cross-section and supercruise capability. As of March 2024, the project has received significant governmental approval to proceed into prototype development, marking a crucial step forward in India’s strategic aerospace ambitions.
