IndieWeb

IndieWeb is a people-focused community and movement supporting independent, personal websites as an alternative to the corporate web. Its principles encourage people to use their own domain as their primary online identity, publish on their own sites first, and retain control of their content. Members can connect their websites with other platforms, bring replies and likes back to their own sites, and use permanent, readable links.

Rather than promoting a single platform, IndieWeb supports a range of approaches and practical building blocks. Its wiki offers guidance on tools, projects, standards, and getting started. The community also hosts real-time chat, regular Homebrew Website Club meetups, IndieWebCamps, and online Pop-Ups where participants share ideas and improve their sites together. Collaborative blog carnivals, a book club, a movie club, and a fiction carnival provide opportunities to publish around shared themes.
