NCHAM, the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management, located at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, is dedicated to ensuring that all infants and young children with hearing loss receive early identification and access to the necessary audiological, educational, medical intervention, and family support services. With funding from multiple sources, NCHAM conducts research, training, and technical assistance activities to improve newborn and early childhood hearing screening, diagnosis, and intervention. As the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention National Technical Resource Center (EHDI NTRC), NCHAM collaborates with state and national partners to create and improve sustainable EHDI systems of care.
Their goals include timely screening, diagnostic evaluations, and early intervention for infants with hearing loss, culturally-competent support for families, and periodic screening and appropriate follow-up for young children. State EHDI systems are also linked to other public health information systems and benefit from ongoing quality improvement methods. NCHAM provides technical assistance through training, individual consultation, and the development of new resources to enhance state EHDI systems of care.
Their team is dedicated to improving services and outcomes for children who are deaf or hard of hearing
