About InfoNile
InfoNile is a cross-border group of geojournalists dedicated to uncovering critical stories on water issues in the Nile River Basin. As the world's longest river, the Nile winds through 11 African countries, playing a vital role in their economies, diplomacy, and overall wellbeing. However, this ancient river is facing new and evolving threats, including climate change, population growth, transboundary hydropolitics, and the construction of large-scale dams.
InfoNile aims to bridge the gap between scientists, journalists, and the public by providing story grants, training, and mentorship to journalists across the Nile Basin. They focus on conducting in-depth stories on water, environment, biodiversity, and climate change. InfoNile also produces original cross-border investigations, trains journalists in data journalism and visualization, and creates interactive maps to provide a human layer to the data.
By collaborating across countries, InfoNile promotes collaboration and uses innovative geo-storytelling techniques to raise awareness about the Nile's water issues
