About INFORM Africa
INFORM Africa is a dynamic research initiative that unites a multidisciplinary team of experts in data science, infectious disease epidemiology, and geospatial statistics to tackle critical health challenges in Nigeria and South Africa. This innovative collaboration consists of the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) and the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA), alongside esteemed universities and industry partners, including AKROS from Zambia.
The core mission of INFORM Africa encompasses several key aims: establishing comprehensive data streams from diverse sectors to analyze the complex interactions impacting the COVID-19 pandemic, creating geospatial tools to enhance pandemic surveillance and government response, and fostering data science research capacity through collaboration with the broader DS-I Africa consortium. Additionally, INFORM Africa is committed to engaging policymakers to promote open access to high-quality data, ensuring that the resources and tools developed significantly benefit public health efforts. Through these initiatives, INFORM Africa is at the forefront of improving health outcomes and preparedness against infectious diseases across the continent.
