About Koi Tū Centre for Informed Futures
Koi Tū: The Centre for Informed Futures is an independent and non-partisan think tank and research center, located at Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland. With members across New Zealand and the world, our main focus is on addressing critical long-term national and global challenges that emerge from social, economic, technological, and environmental changes. Our work revolves around four key themes: Future Society, Human Potential, Navigating Change, and Informing Policy.
We strive to ask tough questions, facilitate discussions, generate innovative ideas, and foster debates. Our goal is to create knowledge and provide tools that will inform decision-making for the long-term future of Aotearoa New Zealand. Founded by Distinguished Professor Sir Peter Gluckman after his term as Chief Science Adviser to the Prime Minister, Koi Tū aims to focus on complex, long-term issues facing the nation.
At Koi Tū, we engage in multidisciplinary research, convene conversations with diverse viewpoints, and foster an exchange of ideas to inspire change. We take a system-based approach, integrating various forms of transdisciplinary knowledge to explore emerging issues. Our collaborations with domestic and international partners in science and policy communities help us act as brokers and conduits, facilitating engagement with the wider community and informing debates.
While the University of Auckland provides support, philanthropy is the backbone of our funding. We also undertake third-party contracts, as long as they don't compromise our intellectual independence and non-partisan position.
Overall, Koi Tū: The Centre for Informed Futures is committed to creating an informed future by engaging with stakeholders who prioritize the long-term development of New Zealand, and by providing trustworthy and robust analysis that can make a real difference.
