Inglis Grain Elevators National Historic Site preserves a remarkable piece of Canada’s Prairie heritage. Located in Inglis, Manitoba, the site is home to the last complete vintage row of standard-plan wooden grain elevators in Canada. Five elevators stand beside an abandoned rail line, surrounded by historic outbuildings and prairie fields. Built between 1922 and 1941 by a range of grain-handling businesses, the elevators reflect a period when thousands of similar structures shaped the landscape and supported communities across the Prairies.
The site focuses on preserving and restoring this rare historic grouping, with support from the Inglis Area Heritage Committee, the Government of Canada and the Province of Manitoba. Visitors can explore the elevators and learn about their history through guided tours, available by reservation year-round. The site also offers visitor information, school resources, historical stories and a photo gallery. It is generally open from the May long weekend through the September long weekend, with admission charged; seasonal hours may change. The visitor centre is located on Railway Avenue in Inglis.
