Inkfish Care is a UK children’s care organisation founded by Louis Stedman-Bryce to create small, home-like settings for young people. Its approach, called the Inkfish 1 2 3 model, centres on one home, no more than two children and three promises: a welcoming place to live, therapeutic care from a trained team, and an education pathway. Homes open as solo provision, with the aim of supporting progression rather than containment.
The organisation’s first home, Compass House, is being developed in Dudley for children with emotional and behavioural needs. Designed to feel warm and comfortable, it will offer shared spaces and bedrooms young people can make their own. Inkfish Care also plans to develop homes for children with learning disabilities. Through its associated service, Inkfish Homes, the group provides supported and transitional housing for older young people moving towards independence, including those from other services. Where appropriate and a home is available, young people may be able to plan their next step within the group.
