About European Inland Waterway Transport Platform
The EU – IWT Platform is an organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of Inland Waterway Transport (IWT) in Europe. As an extension of the European Barge Union (EBU) and the European Skippers' Organisation (ESO), their main objective is to strengthen the positioning of IWT in European and National Transport Policies.
The organization is managed by a dedicated Board of Directors, with three directors appointed by EBU and three directors appointed by ESO. The overall objectives of IWT are reflected in their annual work programs, which focus on various aspects of the industry, including innovation, sustainability, environment and safety, social and education, and infrastructure.
One of the key goals of IWT is to encourage the development of more environmentally friendly vessels through technical progress and innovation. They also strive to enhance the integration of Inland Navigation into Europe's Transport System, preparing it for the future.
