About InnoForESt
InnoForESt is a pioneering European project dedicated to transforming the forest sector by advancing innovations that ensure the sustainable supply and financing of forest ecosystem services (FES). Funded by Horizon 2020, InnoForESt collaborates with a diverse consortium comprising universities, environmental agencies, NGOs, SMEs, and forest owners. The initiative focuses on developing innovative governance structures, management practices, and business models tailored to enhance FES provisioning while addressing the challenges of sustainable forest management.
Key projects within InnoForESt highlight various approaches, such as the Habitat Bank in Finland, which introduces novel payment schemes for biodiversity conservation, and "Forest Shares" in Germany aimed at climate protection. Other initiatives emphasize collaborative governance in the Slovakian and Czech regions and promote active forest management in Italy.
Through interdisciplinary case studies and a commitment to stakeholder engagement, InnoForESt fosters knowledge exchange and inspires actionable strategies that align with the EU's Green Deal, emphasizing forests as essential components for biodiversity and climate adaptation.
