About INQUA
INQUA, established in 1928, is the International Union for Quaternary Research, dedicated to advancing the understanding of environmental changes during the Quaternary geological period. With a global membership of over 46 countries, INQUA fosters international collaboration and communication in both basic and applied aspects of Quaternary research. The organization prioritizes inclusivity by supporting early career and developing country researchers through targeted funding and networking opportunities, aiming to break down barriers in scientific participation.
INQUA's mission encompasses addressing critical global environmental challenges, such as climate change impacts, sea-level rise, and biodiversity loss, by utilizing Quaternary geological records. These records provide essential insights into past environmental conditions, informing our responses to current issues. Through a variety of activities, including funding initiatives, publications, and international meetings, INQUA promotes a deeper understanding of the Quaternary period's significance in evaluating future environmental changes and supports research that contributes to a sustainable global future.
