Inside Out Animals BV is a Dutch, ministerially recognised taxidermy and specimen-preparation company led by diploma-holding preparator Mickel van Leeuwen. With more than 25 years of experience and a strong interest in nature and anatomy, the company creates and restores specimens, primarily on commission for museums, zoos, schools and environmental education centres. It is a member of the Dutch Association of Preparators and is VCA VOL certified.
Its work ranges from skeletons of animals as small as mice to large specimens such as horses, deer, giraffes and whales, with particular expertise in preparing and restoring large animal skeletons. The company also produces taxidermy mounts in natural poses and can prepare both the hide and skeleton of the same animal. Other services include preparing and restoring fossil bones, including material from mammoths, giant deer and woolly rhinoceroses; creating dinosaurs; and producing animal models and reconstructions. Inside Out Animals also supplies specimens for educational exhibitions and supports their assembly and installation.
