About Department of Insolvency
The Department of Insolvency, a part of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, was established on January 1, 2020, following a ministerial decision on May 22, 2019. Operating under the Insolvency and Related Matters Law of 2020 (Law 68(I)/2020), the department is tasked with effectively managing bankruptcy and liquidation, promoting a culture of survival and second chances, and safeguarding and restoring business activities while restructuring and maintaining sustainable enterprises. The department aims to address economic challenges faced by individuals and businesses, reducing non-performing loans, preserving employment, encouraging economic activity, and maintaining social cohesion.
Its responsibilities include those assigned by relevant laws to the Insolvency Service, Official Receiver, and Company Department of the Registrar of Companies related to corporate liquidations, appointment of administrators or receivers, and corporate debt restructuring mechanisms
