BRIC-inStem

BRIC-inStem, the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine, is a research institute in Bengaluru focused on stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Working across disciplines, it investigates how cells develop and function, how disease arises, and how discoveries can support future treatments and societal needs. Its research spans cardiovascular development and disease, chemical biology, tissue-barrier homeostasis, neurodevelopment and disease, and the metabolic regulation of cell fate. The institute also supports collaborative programmes in stem cell and organoid research, women’s reproductive health, and embryology.

BRIC-inStem provides research infrastructure and specialist facilities, including a stem cell facility, a pluripotent stem cell bank, mouse genome engineering, mass spectrometry, insectary services, and national electron cryo-microscopy resources. Its academic activities include a PhD programme, courses, internships, and the SuRF research training opportunity. The institute shares its work through publications, events, outreach, and public engagement, while supporting research translation, technology development, and intellectual property management. Its mission is to advance research and develop indigenous solutions with potential benefit to society.
