Instituto Papai

Instituto PAPAI is a social initiative developed by the Núcleo Feminista de Pesquisas em Gênero e Masculinidades, a feminist research group focused on gender and masculinities. The institute was co-founded by Benedito Medrado and Jorge Lyra, professors at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), who also coordinate the project. Its work is connected to research and public engagement around gender and masculinities, with materials and publications made available through the Gema UFPE website.

The institute’s online presence also highlights partnerships, campaigns, awards and honors, reflecting its involvement in collaborative and public-facing activities. According to an update published in 2020, its base is at the Gema headquarters. The institute no longer receives calls at its former telephone number; communication is handled by email at papai@papai.
