Intaba Blue is a bespoke jewellery studio based in Blouberg, Cape Town, South Africa, founded by jewellery designer and maker Ronel Jordaan. Drawing on a career in jewellery production since 2002, Jordaan combines traditional handcrafting skills with contemporary design and technology to create distinctive, personalised pieces. She holds a diploma in Jewellery Design and Manufacture from Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a Master’s in Contemporary Jewellery from Stellenbosch University.
The studio works closely with clients to develop custom designs that express individual style and personal meaning. The design process can include hand-drawn sketches, computer-aided design (CAD), 3D renderings and resin prototypes, giving clients an opportunity to review details before production. Jewellery is made by hand or using computer-aided manufacturing, depending on the design and materials.
Intaba Blue uses gold, silver, platinum and palladium, alongside diamonds, precious and semi-precious gemstones, and synthetic stones. The studio can also repurpose existing heirlooms. In 2024, Jordaan won the professional category of the PlatAfrica competition, recognising her platinum jewellery design.
