IOS International Owl Society

The International Owl Society (IOS) is a UK-based organisation established in 1996 to provide a worldwide forum for people interested in owls. Its membership welcomes owl enthusiasts, keepers and breeders, as well as members of the scientific and zoological communities; owning or keeping an owl is not required. The Society combines opportunities to share knowledge and connect with others with support for owl conservation. Members can seek friendly, expert advice on owl keeping and husbandry from experienced keepers and breeders. The IOS currently supports research into the migratory patterns of Scops Owls in Hungary.

Membership costs £20 per year. Subscribers receive the quarterly email bulletin Tyto Newsbrief and an annual 48-page hard-copy magazine, Tyto, which features contributions from members. The Society also offers back issues of Tyto from 2015 onwards to members and non-members, at cost plus postage. Members can join online and pay securely through PayPal. The IOS shares news, meetings and events, and invites members to contribute articles and photographs to its publications.
