IntheOldenDays

In the olden days is a genealogy website created by a genealogist who is also an adoptee. It shares research into the author’s biological, adoptive, and marital family lines, with a focus on personal histories and the communities that shaped them. The site’s posts document individuals and families through historical records and narrative research, often tracing births, marriages, migration, work, and family life across generations.

A prominent feature is an honor roll of people who served in World War II, including men and women connected to Peru, Oglesby, LaSalle, and other Illinois communities. Entries identify service members by name and service number and provide biographical accounts drawn from family and local history. The stories describe their childhoods, parents and siblings, occupations, immigrant backgrounds, military service, and, in some cases, their wartime deaths.

In addition to these memorial profiles, the site offers genealogical ramblings and research into family ancestry. Visitors can browse posts, use the search function, or subscribe by email to receive updates.
