In The Paws Of Angels is a Queensland-based registered charity and government-approved Guide, Hearing and Assistance Dogs training institution. Founded in 2012 by Sam Gallagher, the organisation was inspired by her experience with Huckleberry, her Medical Alert Service Dog, and aims to help people through the bond between humans and dogs. Its services include assistance dog training for veterans with PTSD, people with autism, mental health conditions and disabilities, including mobility challenges and other neurological conditions.
The organisation also offers public access testing, a therapy dog program, group classes and individualised training. It works to keep training costs as low as possible so its services can be accessible to more people. In The Paws Of Angels has grown from its early work with veterans to support children and adults with a range of needs.
Its work is supported by volunteers, sponsors and donors, and the organisation invites people to contribute through volunteering, fundraising or donations
