In Vitro Africa (IVA) is a South African advanced reproductive technology company established in 2011 to support sustainable economic and social development among commercial farmers and rural communities in Southern Africa. Its operations are based at the In Vitro Africa AI and Embryo Centre in Parys, Free State. The centre is certified by the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Reform for the export of bovine embryos, semen and live animals.
IVA provides reproductive and livestock services, including in vivo and in vitro embryo production, embryo collection and transfer, cryopreservation and storage, and the collection, evaluation and freezing of bovine semen. It also offers quarantine facilities, import and export services for embryos, semen and live animals, livestock consulting, and the design and development of breeding programmes.
For in vitro fertilisation, donor oocytes are collected and fertilised in a laboratory, with early embryo development taking place in an incubator. IVA’s facilities and specialist team serve farmers seeking reproductive technologies and breeding support for farm animals.
