Nanzhi Advanced Optoelectronics is a research and technology organization established in Nanjing in 2018. It was jointly founded by Nanjing University, the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute, Nanjing Jiangbei New Area, and the team of Academician Zhu Shining. The institute supports collaboration between scientific research and industrial innovation and is a key builder of the Jiangsu Optoelectronics Technology Innovation Center.

Its work focuses on next-generation photonic chips and optoelectronic integration, particularly thin-film lithium niobate and heterogeneous integrated photonic chips. Nanzhi has developed a production line for “thin-film lithium niobate + X” optoelectronic chips and offers capabilities spanning device design, process development, pilot production, and manufacturing. Its services include standardized, wafer-scale fabrication on eight-inch wafers, supported by its photonic chip process design kit (PDK), as well as access to a public technology platform and equipment booking. The organization also develops OptoChat, a photonic intelligence engine intended to support AI-enabled photonic design, pilot validation, and wafer production.
